Re-sizing Photos
You will need a graphics editor to re-size photos. We recommend a free graphics editor irFanview - see: http://www.irfanview.com/.
Profile Photo - Size Restrictions:
Photo dimensions: length x width = 300 x 300 pixels = 3.125 x 3.125 inches. File size maximum: 25,000 bytes which is equal to 24.41 kb.
Photo Album - Size Restrictions: Each member is allotted a total of 450 kb (kilabytes) of space for their personal photo album and a maximum dimenison per photo of 800 x 800 pixels ? roughly 8.33 x 8.33 inches.
After downloading irfanView, Here? s how to Re-size.
First, to reduce the file dimensions:
Open irFanview - then open your GIF or JPG file. At the top menu, click IMAGE ? then scroll down to re-size/re-sample. Check the box that says ?Preserve Aspect Ratio.? Where its states ?set new size,? you?ll see some values associated with the current size of your image (height and width). In the box (height or width) with the largest value shown, type in the number 300 for profile photos, or 800 for the photo album - or lower (depending on the size you want) - then click OK. You?re done re-sizing.
Using irfanView, the easiest way to reduce the file size of photos is to decrease the numbers of colors in the photo - to do this, select Image (in the irfanView tool bar) select decrease color depth - then select 256 colors . Using 256 colors reduces file size dramatically.
If your file size is still too large, try reducing the dimensons a bit, as shown earlier.
Then Save your file and upload.
